Generating New Knowledge and Innovations
Be it at our picturesque Coral Gables campus, in one of the cutting-edge facilities at the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami’s health district, or at the world-class marine and atmospheric science hub on beautiful Biscayne Bay, our diverse community of Miami Hurricanes scholars are making a difference. With 12 colleges and schools, complemented by several interdisciplinary centers and institutes that enjoy regional, national, and global ties, there is little doubt that the University of Miami is emerging as an international academic powerhouse.

Counting more than 159,000 alumni in fields spanning from architecture to marine zoology, the University of Miami is proud to have produced some of the nation’s and world’s most successful researchers in academia and industry. Our faculty receives approximately $360 million annually from public and private agencies to conduct research, build state-of-the-art facilities, and support over 5,500 graduate students and postdoctoral trainees.  The faculty and work highlighted here are emblematic of the exciting research taking place among and between academic disciplines throughout the University.
